"It is my mission to create a cuture of excellence where players and coaches thrive at their highest level both on the field and in life. Creating an environment where players are allowed to become their best by competing with and against players & coaches who both push and support them while enjoying the experience. To achieve this goal it is crucial to focus on developing the person first. If you develop the person, then whatever they are passionate about will thrive."

"Relationships and trust is essential to successfully achieve a goal. Style of play should be built based on player strengths and abilities rather than the one way a coach sees the game. There is no right way or wrong way as long as the objective is met and trusting the players."

My name is Maddie Gaffney and I am so excited to be a part of the up and coming Eclipse Select Soccer Club. I just graduated from The University of Minnesota with a Kinesiology major and I cannot wait to use all that I have learned through my major, my four years of collegiate soccer, and youth soccer to help all the girls and boys of this club grow as people and as soccer players.
My soccer career began as a Purple Princess. I was five years old and my dad had to carry me around the field when he subbed me off in order to have me feel like I was still in the game and playing. You couldn’t separate me from the game, even at just five years old. The rest is history. My first traveling and competitive experience began at Woodbury, which turned into Bangu Tsunami, then into Minnesota Thunder Academy. Andy Kaasa, now director of this club, was my most impactful coach, who invested, and developed me in my youth, helping to set me up for success at the University of Minnesota as a Golden Gopher. Having such a positive youth career, made it easy for me to get into coaching, and wanting to give the youth players a similar experience to my own.
As a Golden Gopher, I played in 75 total games, and started in 64 of those. During my career I was named Most Improved Player and to the All-Big Ten Third team. I was also fortunate enough to be a part of and help the team win both Big Ten titles my junior season, and make two appearances in the NCAA tournament.
Throughout my youth and collegiate career, soccer has given me so much more than just a couple of awards and championships. It brought me life long friends, the ability to withstand and surpass adversity on and off the field, while engraving values of work ethic, grit, perseverance, sacrifice, competitiveness, and teamwork into me. It has developed me into the person I am today.
